Ian & Jan Mitchell
We stayed in Sunset Cottage the week 20-27 June 2009.
(an excellent week of virtually unbroken sunshine!)
The cottage was excellently decorated and furnished and very welcoming, It was very well equipped particularly with regard to appliances like washing M/C, microwave, DVD+Video players, vacuum, iron+board, not all of which you would generally find in holiday accommodation, and it certainly made it feel almost like home-from-home. Also provided were the very thoughtful initial basic provisions of toilet/kitchen rolls, tea, coffee and milk, the latter being particularly welcome after a very long journey! We also had
2 dogs which were made to feel welcome by the owner on arrival.
Overall we would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a very nice holiday base, in a quite location but within easy reach of plenty of good places to visit, and it represented very good value for money. We certainly would not hesitate to visit again.

We have booked with Cadgwith cove cottages before and have always been very happy with the cottages we have stayed in as a family of 4.
Needless to say we love the sw cornwall area very very much. Our love affair with cornwall began 5 years ago and after several first holidays here,I was glad to stumble across Cadgwith Cove cottages website when researching for a cornish summer holiday that would also offer some reasonably priced,and/or offer baragin discounts/lastminute cancellations;yet still be in stunning beautiful locations feel uncommercialised and off the beaten track. So,two years ago we found ourselves staying in the heart of Ruan Minor in a thatched chocolate box of an adjoined cottage a mere 10/15 minutes walk from Cadgwith Cove, and unsuprisingly, naturally fell deeper in love with the SW and know the surrounding villages the lovely scenery and spectacular beaches nearby, quite well.
As a family on a very limited budget indeed,it is always a challenge to find decent reasonably priced yet also clean and comfortable accomodation in the late June early July summer season that wont cripple the purse too much; whilst also having to content and appease our two student teenagers at the same time. ie: not too far driving distance from the tiresome yet "obligatory" town centres/shops- making sure to choose a home that had the "standard comforts" aswell.. washing machine..TV...Dvd/CD player... comfortable enough beds for lanky tall legs, garden furniture good decor and homely touches etc yet all needing to be on a budget means accomodation varies and often ends up being a "compromise" Yet- Sunset cottage ticked most of their(and our) boxes and requirements quite well.
Our friendly charming gracious host and cottage owner "Ann Vault" was a delight to meet. You get the feeling she really cares which made all the difference to us...really wants to make you feel welcome and at home and that you have a relaxing good time in her 2 bedroom bungalow property and even went to the trouble of emptying our dustbin twice whilst we stayed there which was most appreciated with our messy lot.
The little personal attention and touches made her haven comfortable cosy and homely; a fresh vase of lovely garden roses on the dining table to greet you; teabags to start you off with; sugar soap and a carton of milk in the fridge...plenty of hand soap and extra washing up liquid and at our request some extra bath towels to save us lugging them in our tiny and packed ford fiesta (!) so there were plenty of extra towels that made it extra convenient for the price and special for us.
The only (small) minor drawbacks for us personally were:the lack of a tumble dryer (useful for inclement weather) and a large sofa instead of 2 seperate living room chairs but there is a folding airer you can place outside for wet cossies towels clothes and so on so it wasn't too much of an inconvenience.) Ann also stocks a few books maps and everything you need kitchen wise. The small flat screen tv (updated from the current pictures of the property)was a welcome suprise extra, too.
There is a small back garden area with furniture and a sunset to enjoy. "Sunset cottage" was just the base we were hoping for. -Thank you Ann!-
* A little extra info: boat trips can be arranged from cadgwith harbour with Nigel legge and Ann has info about this in the info pack she leaves in the cottage for you. Trips are well worth it. Sunset cottage is set on a small very peaceful uncomercialised site with peaceful countryside views, yet also just being off the A30 is just a few minutes walk to the "cyder barn" and a paintball game site (which would be perfect for restless teenagers but we didn't use as we ran out of time so can't comment there on their quality or price.
Just down the side of the bungalows on the site there is a pleasant nature reserve a few minutes walk away. And of course, there are lots and lots of beaches nearby to enjoy. Kynance cove is the closest just a few minutes drive its a must- and I highly recommend! There is parking directly outside the cottage and it is tarmacked.
Our friendly helpful "neighbour" owned his own holiday cottage and was passionately involved with maintaining this site at the time we were there, and you can tell that for him the work he did to improve the site was a true labour of love.
Others were people like us on holiday, who owned their chalets bungalows or cottages. Lucky them- (We can only dream!),- and we found them to be like us quiet, respectful of one's privacy,peace-loving and unobtrusive and as the site is a second home for some (the few residents spend their holidays here only)- was not at all over full. Infact the whole time we were there we probably had just 3 or four other families.
Overall, we could not have asked for more from either Ann or Sunset cottage. Her rates (currently) are very very reasonable..probably one of the best bargains on the cadgwith cove website for this time of year.
We were only a few minutes drive to our favourite Beach: "Kynance Cove" and all the delights of the quiet unspoilt Lizard area.7-8 miles to Tesco's. NEAREST ASDA: FALMOUTH The cottage though small had everything one needed and we soon felt right at home. Though quite small for a family of 4 with adult aged teenagers Sunset has quite good quality furnishings and immaculate decor. Cosy comfortable and serene.
Our only sadness there was the knowldedge that our 2 weeks would pass in a flash and having to pack up and leave. This beautiful area of cornwall with its jewels of wonderful coastlines spectacular beaches slower pace of life and mild weather is always an inspirational delight and a priveledge to enjoy holidays here. Truly a very special place for myself husband and family.
