This
has to be one of the most memorably situated holiday houses anywhere
in the U.K. With breathtaking views up and down the Helford River,
Tremerlin has 4 acres of secret woodland gardens, 200 metres of water
frontage, its own quay and slipway with private moorings and complete
peace and quiet. You can watch the herons, egrets, curlews and oystercatchers
on the shoreline, survey vast sweeps of centuries-old oak forest and
enjoy the sunsets in this most beautiful part of the world. The words
magic and paradise occur over and over again
in visitors comments Tremerlin is a two-storey timber-framed
property with a full length covered veranda on the first floor a patio
on the ground floor. The house is surrounded by woodland and a 10-minute
walk through it leads you to Helford Village with its pub, café
and village store. Just as close in the other direction is the world-famous
Frenchmans Creek. It will, however, be hard to leave Tremerlin
with its woodland ponds, tree ferns, magnolias, camellias and the
shoreline to explore. Small boat sailing is excellent here. The interior
of Tremerlin has an atmosphere all its own. It makes no pretence of
providing all mod cons, just comfortable, relaxed, spacious living
with period furniture and fittings and natural wood everywhere. The
owner is an artist, musician and furniture maker; who lives and works
in his studio in the grounds well apart from Tremerlin. Prices for
this property are high, because there is enormous demand to stay here.
If you come, you will immediately understand why.
