Rene`s Cottage is a thatched traditional fisherman`s cottage at the entrance to Cadgwith Cove. Henry Jane was one of those very fishermen and also coxswain of the Cadgwith lifeboat. He lived there many years with his wife Irene (Rene). You can relax in front of the glowing woodburner as the winter storms lash the cove and imagine the coxswain hearing the maroons from many of the wrecks that hit the rocks close by. You can also wake up here on a sunny morning and just listen to the seagulls and the waves outside – this is a carefully modernised iconic property close to the pub, restaurant, craft shops and beach from which the local fishing boats depart for sea. No holiday would be complete without sampling a freshly caught lobster or crab. This is a wonderful place to stay!

Elaine Milis Rene's is a delightful cottage - very cosy and homely. We were surprised to find a basket of logs/kindling and some coal for the fire, as well as some basic provisions in the kitchen which we were not expecting. Parking, although a little precarious, was an obvious bonus. There was lots of hot water available for the bath, plus WiFi. A few suggestions for improvements: an outside light would be useful as returning after dark was tricky to get into the kitchen door, and the wonderful bath could do with a non-slip surface to make taking a shower safer. The sofa was extremely uncomfortable but made OK by using pillows from upstairs and cushions from our car. Overall we would recommend the cottage, and visit again, but perhaps a little better prepared.
